Volksblatt for town and country (Austria)

The newspaper Volksblatt für Stadt und Land initially appeared as a sample number from July 3 to July 31, 1870, then from August 2, 1870 to October 31, 1871.

Initially the format was 29 × 20 cm. From August 2, 1870, the morning edition was published in a format of 41 × 26.5 cm and the evening edition in a format of 29 × 20 cm. From the 2nd edition in 1871, both editions were printed in the format of the morning edition. It was initially published twice a day in the morning and evening, and only once on Sundays. From December 1, 1870 to October 31, 1871, the newspaper appeared every day except Mondays, most recently every day except after Sundays and public holidays.

In the imprint, Ms. Schuh is named as the owner and publisher. The printing took place in 1870 in the Mechitharisten Buchdruckerei, then by Franz Eipeldauer and finally by "Schnellpressdruck von Franz Eipeldauer & Comp". W. Hegna can be verified as the editor until August 31, 1870 and Stefan Worell until October 31, 1871.

The "Wochenschau about the most important incidents at home and abroad in political, social and business areas" was published as a supplement.

The newspaper was continued under the title “Volksblatt für Stadt und Land. One-time edition ". This appeared from November 3, 1871 to December 28, 1871 and from January 4, 1872 to May 8, 1933. The three-time edition emerged from the one-time edition of the Volksblatt für Stadt und Land. As a supplement to the three-time edition, teaching and entertaining appeared from 1887 to 1916. The three-time edition was continued under the title Die Neue Zeitung and the one-time edition under the title Wiener Woche .
