Teaching and entertaining

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Instructive and entertaining material appeared between 1887 and 1916 as an illustrated supplement to the one-time edition of the “Volksblatt für Stadt und Land” and from January 5, 1887 to 31.1907 as a supplement to the three-time edition of the “ Volksblatt für Stadt und Land ”. Sometimes the main title was also listed under "Entertaining and instructing".

If the supplement appeared weekly in the first few years, the frequency of publication changed from 1890 to 10 days apart. From 1903 the term “teaching and entertaining” was used for the title of the volume and “illustrated entertainment supplement” for the title.

The individual editions were illustrated and contained narratives, essays and lyrical contributions, and there were also sections for “Trade, Housekeeping and Agriculture”, “Advice for the healthy and sick”, and a section “All sorts” with mixed texts.
