Priority road network

Sign 306

The priority road network (more often: "Reservation network") is a sub-network of the road traffic infrastructure, which is reserved for the bundling and efficient handling of motorized traffic and is marked with sign 306 . The definition of a priority road network is a prerequisite for the establishment of Tempo 30 zones according to § 45 Paragraph 1c StVO or the statements of the VwV-StVO to § 5 (Rd.No. 37) . The definition of the reservation network is done by the municipalities, mostly within the framework of the preparation of traffic development plans . The concept of the reservation network is not firmly defined, so that different definitions are sometimes made from municipality to municipality. Part of the priority road network are usually roads of regional traffic (federal, state and district roads), roads on which public transport is handled, and other roads with important traffic significance. Often roads in industrial and commercial areas (with little residential development) as well as roads outside of the city are included in the reservation network. This network is intended to attract cross-regional traffic and - as a rule - handle it at a permissible speed of at least 50 km / h.
