Vučedol
Vučedol is now part of the city of Vukovar in eastern Croatia . On the outskirts is the water tower - a symbol of the battle for Vukovar . Vučedol is located on the steep bank of the Danube. The topographical conditions of the settlement area made it possible to build a fortification which is known as the "Castle of Vucedol".
In Vučedol-Gradac, the eponymous site for the Eeneolithic Vučedol culture was excavated. The Museum of Vučedol Culture (Croatian Muzej vučedolske kulture) opened in 2015. The most famous find is the Vučedol pigeon, an animal figurine made of clay in the form of a stylized bird. The original is part of the prehistoric collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb .
