Heat path

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the construction industry in particular, the heat path describes the length of the path that lies in particularly heat-conducting bodies between a heat source and another, colder medium. For example, when it comes to the thermal insulation of buildings , one speaks of the thermal path that is created between the interior and the outside air through the heat-conducting masonry .

By insulating materials and specially shaped building materials is an attempt to extend the heat path artificially, to achieve better thermal insulation. Perforated bricks are a well-known example of building materials that extend the heat path.
