The desert road Ajdabiya – Tobruk is an asphalt and paved desert road in the Libyan region of Kyrenaica . The road is only of strategic importance and therefore has hardly any traffic.

With about 400 km it forms the shortest connection between the coastal cities of Tobruk in the northeast and Ajdabiya in the southwest and allows the cities of Benghazi , El Merdj , Al-Baida and Derna , which are located on the coastal road ( Via Balbia ) or in the mountains al- Jebel al-Achdar (Montagna Verde) lying. The distance along the coastal road would be 610 kilometers.

The road leads through the rubble desert Sarīr Kalanshiyū ar Ramlī al Kabīr (Kalansho Desert, Calancio Sand). Along the road there are oil production facilities and installations (km 29 and 36, east of Ajdabiya) as well as at Saùnnu (km 67, km 155) and B'ir bin Ghunaymah (km 162) as well as a petrol station (km 209 km), various gravel pits (km 353, 359, 363) and military caverns (km 367).

Branches to the north lead to Zawiyat al Mukhailá (km 212), to Al-Qardabah (km 333) and to Acroma (km 370).

At km 375 east of Ajdabiya, the desert road ends near Tobruk Airport near al-Adam, where the road branches off northwards towards Tobruk, which reaches the coastal road Via Balbia at km 389.
