WEPplus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WEPplus is a mechanism originally developed by Agere to prevent attacks on the WEP encryption standard . This goal is not achieved in practice, but WEPplus makes it extremely difficult to find weak initialization vectors. For WEPplus to work, it must be supported by all devices. Another problem is that even if companies like Agere develop new firmwares, you cannot / do not always want to stay up to date.

WPA , which is supported by many 802.11g cards, offers alternatives ; or if you want to be on the safe side and don't shy away from some effort, you should set up a VPN .

However, the same applies here: it is better to use poor WEP encryption than none.
