The WIPO Copyright Treaty , short WCT (of English WIPO Copyright Treaty ), is a 1996 by the World Intellectual Property Organization law passed (WIPO) special agreement within the meaning of Article 20 of the Berne Convention ; it forms the framework for adapting national copyright laws to the requirements of digital network media.

Article 4 equates the protection of computer programs with the protection of literary works under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Works of Literature and Art in the 1971 version. Limitations of this protection - e.g. B. by patent- protected ideas - may not significantly impair the normal commercial exploitation of computer programs worthy of copyright protection according to Art. 10, Paragraph 2, as this also applies to technical books .
