Balance beam system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A balance beam system is an element in a dual-circuit brake system with which the braking forces on the front and rear axles can be adjusted very precisely. The system is mainly used in motorsport and, compared to conventional dual-circuit brake systems, offers not only more precise brake distribution, but also the option of making adjustments while driving.

In the case of a balance beam system, the brake pressure from the pedal is not transmitted to the master cylinder , but to a so-called cross beam in front of it. Depending on the set pressure distribution, the brake pressures are directed to the downstream brake cylinders on the front and rear axles.
