The name comes from the Sorbian and roughly means lake with sticks on the shore . According to its type of settlement, Pohlitz is a rural village .

From 1817 Pohlitz belonged to the Neuzelle Rent Office . The topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt ad O. from 1844 recorded 264 inhabitants in 40 residential buildings in Pohlitz for this year. The place was parish after Fünfeichen . The court affiliation was with the district court of Fürstenberg (Oder) , the nearest post office was in Krebsjauche . The settlement Pulvermühle (now Pohlitzer Mühle ), which had five residents, belonged to the place. In 1867 Pohlitz had 308 inhabitants and the powder mill had 22 inhabitants.

Before 1815 Pohlitz belonged to the Gubenische Kreis . As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Lower Lusatia, which previously belonged to the Kingdom of Saxony , came to the Kingdom of Prussia . Thereafter, the historic Gubenische Kreis was renamed the Guben district and part of the Frankfurt administrative district in the province of Brandenburg . Pohlitz was a place in the district of Siehdichum . On July 1, 1950, the district of Guben was dissolved and the municipality of Pohlitz came to the district of Frankfurt (Oder) . When the district was newly formed in the GDR on July 25, 1952, the municipality was added to the Eisenhüttenstadt-Land district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district. After the fall of the Wall , the Eisenhüttenstadt-Land district was renamed the Eisenhüttenstadt district . During the district reform on December 6, 1993, Pohlitz was assigned to the Oder-Spree district and administered there by the Schlaubetal office. On June 17, 2002, the Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg approved the merger of the municipalities of Rießen , Pohlitz and Schernsdorf to form the new municipality of Siehdichum , which came into effect on October 26, 2003.
