Waguih Ghali

Waguih Ghali (* in Egypt; † January 5, 1969 in London ) was an Egyptian writer who wrote English .

Waguih Ghali was born into a wealthy Coptic family. After getting closer and closer to communist ideas over time, he was forced to leave Egypt in 1958 and go to London, as there was a risk that he would be imprisoned in Egypt as a communist. When his passport expired, Ghali went into exile in Germany, where he wrote his debut novel while working in a factory. He started a second novel about life as a "guest worker", but did not complete it. He returned to London in 1966, but committed suicide three years later.
