Waidsack

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Salzkammergut, a special rucksack is called a Waidsack (also Waidtasche or Waidmannsasche ; locally also Woadsack ) . The word can be traced back to the outdated word “woad” for hunting.

function

The Waidsack suitable for carrying snacks and beverages and useful utensils, which can also be reached during walking, with a handle backwards through a slot.

nature

A waist sack consists of a one-square-meter piece of sailcloth , which is sewn together like a sack and gathered on the upper side by a metal ring to which the two carrying straps are attached. These are attached to the underside of the linen sack with two buttons sewn on the left and right. On the side that rests on the wearer's back when worn, there is a slot that is used to fill and empty the waist sack.
