Forest helmet
The forest helmet is an aid in occupational safety and part of the PSA forest .
The forest helmet is equipped with a visor made of acrylic glass , wire mesh or (transparent) nylon to prevent injuries to the eyes . Visors made of fabric have the advantage that they cannot be scratched and do not fog up in moist air. Hearing protection is also attached to the forest helmet to protect the wearer from the noise of the chainsaw.
The forest helmet is an effective protection against recoil from the chainsaw , which is also known as kickback. With the kickback, the chain is brought to a standstill immediately in modern saws using the chain brake. Nevertheless, a standing chain in the face can cause injuries. The visor keeps the chain off.
Most forest helmets also have a sun protection shield integrated so that the saw operator is not dazzled.
A forest helmet has a maximum durability of a maximum of five years from the date of manufacture. A date (date of manufacture) is printed on the inside of the helmet so that the age can be traced. High-quality helmets are provided with a UV-sensitive insert that changes color when exposed to UV radiation. This means that when the helmet has reached the end of its useful life, you can tell that it needs to be replaced.
