Waldensian Church (Todenhausen)
The Waldensian Church is the Protestant church of Todenhausen , a district of the municipality of Wetter in the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf in Central Hesse .
In 1720, Landgrave Karl von Hessen-Kassel declared his willingness to take over 40 Waldensian families from France who had previously found accommodation in Württemberg , and founded the village of French Todenhausen for them (in contrast to German Todenhausen).
The church building, built in quarry stone, a simple structure with a hipped roof and an eight-sided roof turret , was started in 1744, but was only inaugurated on September 21, 1755 according to an inscription plaque inside the church. It was not until 1784 that the church received a bell that still exists today.
The Huguenot and Waldensian archive is located in the former elementary school in Todenhausen.
