Valery Vasilyevich Radayev

Valery Wassiljewitsch Radajew ( Russian Валерий Васильевич Радаев; born April 2, 1961 in the village of Blagodatnoe, Chwalinsky Province, Saratov Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian politician and governor of Saratov Oblast since 2012.  

Career

Radayev graduated from the Marxovsky Agricultural College in 1980 (now a branch of the Nikolai Wawilow Agricultural University in Saratov ). In 1994 he acquired another academic qualification as a mechanical engineer at the Institute for the Mechanization of Agriculture. Ten years later he received a doctorate from the Saratov State Technical University .

Radayev worked from 1993 to 1996 as the manager of an agricultural business in his home village of Blagodatnoe. In 1996 he took over the city administration of the Chwalinski Province. Between 2005 and 2007 he worked as the head of department of the federal institution for veterinary and phytosanitary supervision in Saratov before he was elected as a member of the regional Duma and a short time later as chairman.

On April 5, 2012, the Regional Duma appointed Radayev Governor of Saratov Oblast.

In the gubernatorial elections in September 2017, Radayev received more than 70 percent of the votes cast and retained the post of governor of Saratov Oblast.
