Wanted (breakdance crew)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wanted is a French breakdance crew from Paris , who made a name for themselves in the global breakdance scene in 2001 by winning the International Battle of the Year and who also made a name for themselves outside of hip-hop through their plays . In addition to breaking , most of the members also practice other urban dance styles such as Hype , House or New Style , in which many of them are world leaders.

Since it has over 20 members, it is also known as Wanted Posse .

history

At the beginning of the 90s, the six b-boys Amamada, Djagui, Youssouf, Walid, Jackson and Hugues formed a loose breakdance crew with no real name to dance together. However, after Walid and Jackson left this, the rest formed a crew with a solid cohesion.

In 1994 Yoka and Saddam joined the group and they decided to call themselves Wanted Posse. In the years that followed, many more B-girls and B-boys joined them.

In 1996 they created their first play with L'arrêt de bus , Possession 1997 and La Prison 1998 followed. At that time they were little known in the international breakdance scene, because they appeared almost exclusively in France and were mainly present at Paris battles.

This changed suddenly in 2001: First the Wanted Posse won the first Battle of the Year France in a difficult final battle against the Vagabonds and thus qualified for the International Battle of the Year (BOTY for short) in Germany. At this event in Braunschweig she presented a show in front of almost ten thousand spectators, which, together with the performances of the Korean crew Visual Shock and the Japanese formation Team Ohh , should set new standards. And finally she won the final battle against the Japanese.

The next year Wanted decided not to defend their title as unofficial breakdance world champion and instead concentrated on the theater again. Some members also worked on musicals or appeared in series and films.

In 2003 they went on a world tour with their piece Bad Moves and performed in over a hundred countries (including Japan, Canada, Australia).
