The coat of arms of Arkhangelsk Oblast ( Russian Герб Архангельской области ) has been in use since July 15, 2003 and is the official coat of arms of the oblast. It was created on the basis of the coat of arms of the Arkhangelsk governorate from the 18th century and is largely identical to it.

description

The coat of arms represents the conquest of Satan by the Archangel Michael . On the golden background of the coat of arms there is Michael, the patron saint of Arkhangelsk Oblast, who stands with a shield and sword on the dark angel lying on the ground . The archangel wears blue clothing, which in the color symbolism stands for beauty, gentleness and greatness. The red flaming sword and the boots symbolize the courage and power of the archangel. The tsar's crown is also located on the shield on the full coat of arms . In this form of the coat of arms, the shield is surrounded by golden oak leaves and the blue Andreevsky band ( Андреевская лента ).
