Varshavyanka
The text of the workers' song Warschawjanka ( Polish Warszawianka ) comes from Wacław Święcicki , the music goes back to a Polish freedom song. It is often referred to as "the most sung Russian battle song".
In a Spanish version, which is slightly different from the German text reproduced here, the Warschavjanka under the title “ A las barricadas ” is also the anthem of the Spanish anarcho-syndicalist union Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT). In Greece, a song called "Ánemi Thíelles" ( Greek Άνεμοι Θύελλες , German winds and storms ) was sung by the communist resistance fighters during the occupation of 1941-44 and during the civil war , which uses the melody of the Varshavyanka.
