Wash mitt

A washcloth , regionally also soapcloth , soap cloth or wash stain , is a piece of textile for body care that is more than the size of a palm . In Europe it is sometimes designed as a washing glove in a rectangular shape, into which a hand can slip. The material varies, but cotton- containing terry is often preferred.

For hygienic reasons, in professional care for the elderly and the sick, two washcloths and two towels , one for the upper body and one for the lower body, are always used for intimate hygiene, as otherwise there would be the risk of germs from other body regions be brought into the genital area.

Dermatologists point out that it is better not to use (conventional) washcloths for intimate hygiene, as these are a breeding ground for germs. Because of the risk of spreading germs, in addition to conventional washcloths, disposable washcloths are used in the care sector, which are disposed of after use.

Other meanings

A washcloth is a colloquial term for a person without courage or backbone, who cannot stand anything and who complains all the time.
