Under Washing is understood in the field of model editing a ready-painted model by means of color and a large amount of appropriate dilution with the aim of producing strong signs of wear and / or breathe more "depth" of the model.

method

It is important that the basecoat should be allowed to dry for at least 24 hours before washing in order to prevent it from being dissolved by the thinning medium. Alternatively, you can use different types of paint , for example oil paints for the basecoat and water-based paints for washing. In the case of water-based washes, however, detergents (washing-up liquid) should be added to reduce the surface tension of the solvent, water, this supports the capillary effect and allows the paint / water mixture to run into the finest cracks in the model, where it can settle as intended "dirt".
