history

In the summer of 1993 there were disputes between the board, players and coaches in the water polo section of ATSE Graz. The ATSE Graz no longer wanted to support the section and withdrew, as did the main sports association ASKÖ. Nevertheless, the team that was in the middle of the championship, led by Martin Diensthuber and Josef Sattler, came second. Together with Gerd Lang as the treasurer and the former goalkeeper Christian Wolf, they founded the WBV Graz in the summer of 1993 and took part in the top division in the 1993/94 season after receiving permission from the Austrian Swimming Association and LSV Styria.
