The Florence Falls are a short distance downriver from Lake Dorothy . The falls form a long cascade 43 meters high; formed from several small drops less than nine meters in length, they can shrink into a trickle when the river is low and look mighty when it is high.
The location of the waterfall is often shown on older maps just below the mouth of Smith Creek. The real location is just below the outflow of Lake Dorothy on a bend in the river. The falls lie within a narrow gorge .
