Water tower, 2003

The water tower of Vukovar ( Croatian Vukovarski vodotoranj ) stands on the outskirts of Vukovar in Croatia . It was built in 1968 and originally also housed a restaurant, which was only in operation until 1970. At that time, it was one of the largest of its kind in Europe with a reservoir volume of 2,200 cubic meters.

It was destroyed in 1991 in the Battle of Vukovar by artillery fire from the Yugoslav People's Army ; one counts 640 bullets. Today, in its preserved state, it serves as a war memorial. In 2019 the tower began to be converted into a museum with a restaurant. The traces of the war will be preserved in the preserved state.
