Wat Buddhavihara

Wat Buddhavihara (Thai วัด พุทธวิหาร ) is a Buddhist monastery in Berlin-Heinersdorf . It belongs to Theravada Buddhism.

structure

There are currently three monks and five nuns living in the monastery, mostly of Thai origin. They practice Theravada Buddhism. The monastery is run by the Thai Buddhist Association. V. operated. It offers religious festivals and ceremonies mainly for Thai Buddhists, but guests are also welcome. A highlight is the Thai New Year celebrations in April.

history

In 2014 the monastery was founded on a former industrial site. The monks and nuns came with the sponsoring association from Berlin-Wittenau, where they had previously lived.

Since then, everyone has tried to build a cultural center and a temple on the site, as well as to repair the house. The meditation and living rooms are currently still in barracks.
