Wax (born August 20, 1980 in Washington, DC ; real name Michael Joseph Jones ) is an American musician and rapper . He became known with several videos on YouTube . In 2013 he achieved greater popularity in German-speaking countries with his single Rosana .

Career

Between 2000 and 2005 he was a member of the band MacGregor, with which he released two albums. After the band split up, Wax released his first solo EP Biatch! . From 2007 he published videos together with his brother via a channel on YouTube . His first success with over 1 million views was New Crack , in which he freestyle raps over Stephen Marley's Traffic Jam track while driving a car. In 2010 he reached the list of the Top 100 Musicians on youtube. In March 2011 he received a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings , which he dissolved again in August 2012. He has been running a podcast with weekly episodes since August 2012 .

In March 2013, his single Rosana hit the German charts . It is Wax's first chart success worldwide.
