Jonas Bruck (born March 5, 1813 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia , † April 5, 1883 in Breslau ) was a German dentist , author and holder of the Order of the Crown, 4th grade.

Live and act

Jonas Bruck studied dentistry and surgery at the Humboldt University in Berlin and set up his own dental practice in Breslau in 1840. Under the influence of Wroclaw surgeon Prof. Albrecht Theodor Middeldorpf he wrote in 1864 his masterpiece The galvanocaustic in the dental practice . Galvano-caustic was understood to mean an operation method in which specially constructed surgical instruments, which were provided with a platinum glow wire , could be heated to glowing heat by means of galvanically generated electricity. In this way, in particular, separations and destruction of tissues and the coagulation of vessels for hemostasis were carried out. Bruck's attempts in 1867 to conduct a diaphanoscopic examination of the urinary bladder using a platinum heating wire inserted into the rectum with water cooling were less successful .

Since 1856 he was a member of the Kaiserliche Leopoldinische Carolinische Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher , chairman of the Wroclaw Dental Association, published in the journal Der Zahnarzt and received several awards for his scientific achievements, including the Prussian Royal Crown Order IV class .

The Mazewa is located in the Old Jewish Cemetery in Breslau (Polish: Wrocław). His son and assistant was the dentist Julius Bruck
