Horst Kremling
Horst Kremling (born July 27, 1920 in Breslau ; † October 24, 2013 ) was a German gynecologist .
Career
Kremling received his doctorate from the University of Halle in 1945 . Afterwards he received his specialist training in urology at the General Hospital of the City of Nuremberg under Pflaumer and then under Steichele. As a specialist in urology, he came to the gynecological clinic of the University of Würzburg under Karl Burger in 1950 . He worked practically and scientifically successfully, especially in the field of gynecological urology and obstetrics. He wrote over 150 scientific papers and lectures, seven book chapters and several books of his own. In 1952 he described for the first time a (afebrile) pyelonephritis occurring without a fever as a complication of pregnancy. He completed his habilitation in 1955, became an adjunct professor in 1963 and professor of obstetrics and gynecology in 1978. His Gynecological Urology and Nephrology , published in 1977 with Wolfgang Lutzeyer and Heintz, had a 2nd edition in 1982, a Spanish and a Russian edition. From 1976 to 1982 he was vice president of the university.
After his retirement, forensic gynecology was created in 1991 on the basis of numerous expert reports for courts and for medical arbitration boards with Professors Goecke and Solbach . After that, he mainly worked on medical history topics. The history of gynecological urology originated in 1987. He was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and lived in Gerbrunn near Würzburg.
