Wazena's gold coin

Wazena was a Christian king of the Aksumite Empire in Africa who ruled at the beginning of the sixth century. He is known almost exclusively from his coins, which show his head from the side on the obverse, and more rarely from the front. There is usually a cross on the reverse of the coins and the legends are mostly in Old Ethiopian , as Greek became less and less important during this period.
