WChUTEIN (in German : Higher Artistic-Technical Institute ; Russian ВХУТЕИН , long form: Высший художественно-технический институт ) were two state art colleges in Moscow and Leningrad .

The Moscow University emerged from the “Higher Artistic-Technical Workshops” (“ WChUTEMAS ”), which was renamed “WChUTEIN” on March 4, 1927.

Leningrad University was established in 1922. The Moscow version of the Institute of Art Education was established on December 19, 1920. Both universities were closed in 1930.

In place of the Moscow University, two new ones were created: the Moscow Architecture Institute (“ MARCh ”) and the Moscow State Academic Artistic Institute.

Instead of the Leningrad University, the Institute of Proletarian Performing Arts was established, which was renamed the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1932.
