Web Application Description Language
The Web Application Description Language (WADL) is an XML -based file format that describes HTTP -based applications as they predominantly appear on the WWW and in intranets . WADL primarily supports the description of REST-based web services and takes on a role for this class of applications that is comparable to WSDL for SOAP- based web services.
The aim of WADL is to describe services on the Internet (or any other IP -based network) in machine-readable form, thereby simplifying the development of applications in the style of Web 2.0 .
