history

The history of the Spieker is not entirely clear. It is not known who owned the building or whether it was really only used as a warehouse for goods and grain. The building, also called Voigthaus (police station), is a half-timbered house on a solid base. It is decorated with rich carvings. An inscription bears the year 1588. The building was converted into a residential house in the 18th century. After changes in the 19th century, the exterior was restored in 1955. The former residents had 45 m² for living and 45 m² as storage space. In 1997 the Spieker was restored and has been used as a home since then.
