The Weber Group (spelling Weber Group ) is an independent family company that has been owner-managed for three generations since it was founded in 1949. It is a development supplier and system partner for sophisticated injection-molded plastic solutions for customers in the automotive, building and heating technology and household appliances industries.

history

Company headquarters in Dillenburg

Weber GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1949 by Josef Weber. In 1962 Artur Zipp joined the company as managing director. After the founder's death in 1971, Artur Zipp became the sole managing partner. Artur Zipp built up the company over almost four decades and in 1995 handed over the management to Thomas Zipp, who is now the 3rd generation managing partner / CEO of the Weber Group. Werner Stubenrauch (CFO | 2008–2015), Jan Thomas Schmidt (CFO | 2016–2019), Jürgen Deters (CFO | 2020-present) and Boris Zipser (COO | 2016-present) were / are further members of the management.

Dates and numbers

Weber is a medium-sized family company that opened its first subsidiary in Poland in 2003 and also expanded to China in 2012. The plastics technology and sealing compounds business areas are based at the company headquarters in Dillenburg . The company employs around 530 people in Dillenburg, including around 20 trainees. While the subsidiary wezi-tec Sp. Z oo in Legnica , Poland, already has around 650 employees (2020), the still young subsidiary WEBER Plastics Technology & Mold Making (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in Suzhou / China currently around 120 employees (2020).

Overall, the Weber Group generated sales of 141 million euros in 2019. Export contributed around 10% to this. The majority shareholder of the company is Dr. Thomas Zipp. The other shares are held by his mother Hannelore Zipp, his brother Dr. Hans-Peter Zipp, and his two children Anna Katharina and Christian Walter Zipp.

Plastics technology

Weber Kunststofftechnik develops and produces high-quality plastic components, modules and systems for the automotive, building and heating technology and household appliances industries. The full-service supplier accompanies you from conception to development and mold management to the product ready for series production. The main product segments in automobile interiors are kinematic modules (ashtrays, cup holders, storage compartments, fresh air vents) and painted car sets with decorative elements. In the automotive exterior, Weber focuses on illuminated door entry strips and loading flaps for e-vehicles. In automotive powertrain, the focus is on acoustic design engine covers and battery consoles. Numerous patents prove the innovative character of the product solutions. Functional and decorative parts are produced for national and international customers in the building and heating technology sectors, and complete, ready-to-sell products for the retail sector for the household appliance sector. Special core competencies lie in the areas of interior kinematics, mechatronics, hybrid technology, acoustics, lighting and surfaces.

Sealants

wezi-lit sealing compounds are the founding product of the Weber Group from Dillenburg. Wezi-lit has been one of the experts in the development and production of high-temperature sealing compounds since 1949. Today the product range includes high-strength and elastic oven and boiler putties as well as adhesives for a wide variety of applications in the heating and cooking appliance industry. The products are used, for example, to seal cast iron boilers, chimney inserts, stoves, pellet heating systems, stoves, flue gas pipes and combustion chamber linings as well as for fire protection.

wezi-lit developed the first non-segregation-free mineral high-temperature cartridge putty W1000: a patented 1000 ° C-resistant paste-like sealing compound. For this development, Weber received the Certificate of Material Excellence from the New York Institute Material ConneXion in 2008.
