Changeable bass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The alternating bass is a simple and popular bass run in many musical styles such as blues , country , hits , marching music and many more

The principle is to play the root note as the bass note in 4/4 time on beats 1 and 3 and the fifth note on 2 and 4. For example, with an A major chord the bass alternates between "A" and "E" or "e". It is not uncommon for the alternating bass to be embedded in a bass run that, for example, leads to the new key before a chord change . Alternating basses are also possible, with the third in the bass in between (on 2 or 4).
