The Weco Tankers A / S in Rungsted operates tankers for Tankreederei Stena Weco . The traditional Danish shipping company was much better known under the previous name Dannebrog Rederi A / S , whose ship names always ended in -borg .

history

The company's roots lie in the shipping company and ship brokerage C.K. Hansen of the wholesaler Christian Kjellerup Hansen. CK Hansen worked as the main agency of the Thos shipping company from 1857. Wilson Sons & Co. from Hull and James Currild & Co. from Leith. From 1859 Hansen began to build up his own shipping company with the two steamers Dan and El Olé . His son Johan Hansen continued the company and founded the shipping company Dannebrog Dampskibsselskab A / S on February 9, 1883 , which initially started work with the three steamers Christiansborg , Amalienborg and Frederiksborg . A subsidiary Atlantic Dampskibsselskabet A / S was founded in 1910 and merged with Dannebrog in 1912 and the subsidiary Kjøbenhavns Bunkerkul Depot A / S was founded at the end of 1911. The Dannebrog shipping company lost around 20 ships with a total carrying capacity of around 60,000 tons in the First World War, killing 52 seamen. In 1918, Dannebrog merged with Neptun Dampskibsselskabet A / S and with Dampskibsselskabet af 1896 A / S, which brought seven steamers into the company.

In the period between the wars, the company rebuilt its fleet. During the Second World War, Dannebrog lost eight ships with a deadweight of 31,000 tons and 60 sailors lost their lives.

In July 1952 the subsidiary Dantank Rederiaktieselskab was founded and in April 1953 the Atalanta Rederiaktieselskab was founded, but it was dissolved again in 1959. In 1967 Dantank Rederiaktieselskab was sold and in 1968 Kjøbenhavn's Bunkerkul Depot was sold. From August 8, 1969, the company traded as Rederiaktieselskabet Dannebrog and on April 5, 1976 the name was changed to Holdingaktieselskabet Dannebrog.

On April 15, 1991 the name was changed to Dannebrog Rederi A / S and in 1992 Weco-Rederi A / S took over Dannebrog Rederi A / S as the parent company. From mid-2016 the epithet came to the company name Dannebrog Rederi A / S Weco Tankers A / S added, later the name was changed completely to Weco Tankers A / S .

Today, Weco Tankers operates a fleet of seven medium-sized tankers ranging from 20,000 tons to 50,000 tons deadweight. The ships are operated for the shipping companies Golden Stena Weco and Stena Weco.
