The former Wuppertal company Wedico Truck + Construction Models GmbH produced high-quality truck and construction machine models and kits in 1:16 or 1: 14.5 scale and ship model kits in different scales. Wedico Truck + Construction Models GmbH was deleted at the beginning of 2018. WEDICO-models was incorporated and continued as a new brand at thicon eK in Essen.
Models
Wedico became known for high-quality vehicle models that can be built either as showpieces or remote-controlled. Materials such as plastic, aluminum and stainless steel are used in the truck models. The models can be equipped with a wide variety of accessories, e.g. B. with electric drive, manual transmission, original and complex lighting systems and sound generators. A fully equipped model can cost well over € 3,000.
In the 1990s, ship model kits made of polystyrene were also part of the range, which could also be equipped with remote control and drive.
history
Under the original name We Senfeld, Di blocks GmbH & Co. , the company was founded in 1893 in Wuppertal. In 1996 the business areas ( white metal and model making) were divided into legally independent business areas. The insolvency of the model construction division in 2003 was averted and continued under the name Wedico Truck + Construction Models GmbH from 2004 . Since then, several new models and accessories have been launched on the market until 2017.
Due to another insolvency, the business operations of Wedico Truck + Construction Models GmbH were finally ceased on January 15, 2018 .
The production and sale of current, classic and new Wedico models, spare parts and accessories was taken over by the company thicon eK based in Essen. The production of the existing articles continues as usual with new as well as with members of the old Wedico team. At the "Faszination Modellbau" trade fair in Friedrichshafen and previously at the "modell-hobby-spiel" in Leipzig, the new brand "WEDICO-models" and its division for the high-quality and licensed model construction machinery "WEDICO-construction" presented itself at the end of 2018 together with thicon eK before the end customers.
