Labor storm

As a contraction storm - in the technical language hyperactive labor activity - one describes pathologically increased contractions . They are either too strong (> 80–90 mm Hg) or too frequent (more than 4–5 per 10 min). If there is a storm of labor, there is a risk of uterine rupture .

Causes of a labor storm are:

A low-dose tocolytic is used for therapy, and if necessary, oxytocin is then administered, which can contribute to a decrease in the frequency of labor while maintaining normal labor intensity.
