World Action Program "Education for Sustainable Development"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Action Program (WAP) "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD) is the follow-up program to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development , which was announced for 2005 to 2014.

The resolution in question was passed on November 19, 2013. Its goal is to get the member states to support the world action program, which is supposed to contribute to the post-2015 development agenda, in the UN General Assembly. With the help of the program, previous innovations in the areas of sustainable development are to be structurally anchored.

The term will initially run from 2015 to 2019.

The national platform set up within the framework of the WAP has the mandate to adopt a national action plan for the WAP implementation in Germany. It includes representatives from the Federal Government, the Conference of Education Ministers, the Conference of Environment Ministers and decision-makers from civil society, business and science.
