World Vegetarian Day

The World Vegetarian Day (English World Vegetarian Day ) is an international event that the benefits of a meat-free lifestyle will point. The day, which takes place annually on October 1st, was first celebrated in 1977. He is a member of World Vegetarian Awareness Month , which begins with the World Vegetarian Day on October 1, and with the World Vegan Day ends on November 1st.

The first World Vegetarian Day took place on October 1, 1977 after it had been initiated by the North American Vegetarian Society as part of the World Vegetarian Congress in Scotland in 1977. Today it is organized worldwide by numerous initiatives and associations, including the International Vegetarian Union since 1978 .

World Vegetarian Day is intended to draw attention to positive aspects of vegetarianism for the health and the environment and to motivate people to live a vegetarian lifestyle for at least this day. The advantages of a vegetarian lifestyle include, for example, the high water consumption and the high greenhouse gas emissions in meat production. The day also helps to ensure that the topic of vegetarianism is discussed in the media.
