The Wendelstein Cable Car is a large cabin cable car and after much older Wendelstein cog railway , the second cable car at Wendelstein . The 2953 m long aerial tramway was built by Pohlig-Heckel-Bleichert within 18 months and put into operation in 1970. It opens up the mountain from Bayrischzell -Osterhofen on the southwest side.

The Wendelstein cable car, the cabins of which are manufactured by the Austrian manufacturer Carvatech (formerly Swoboda) and can hold a maximum of 50 people, has a carrying cable with a 50 mm diameter and a pull cable with a 30 mm diameter. It is driven by a motor with a maximum of 490 hp. It has a top speed of 36 km / h (10 m / s). In 7 minutes it overcomes a difference in altitude of 932 m and has a transport capacity of up to 450 people / hour. It only has a single support with the considerable height of 75 meters, the maximum distance from the ground is 170 m.
