Werden is the name of an old Pomeranian noble family .
history
The von Werden family originally comes from Werden an der Ruhr. The family immigrated to Danzig as early as 1300. The uninterrupted family line begins with the Gdansk councilor (1456), merchant and shipowner Gert von Werden (born around 1400, died 1464 in Gdansk). Johann von Werden (born 1495, died on August 28, 1554 in Danzig, mayor of Danzig, long-distance merchant and shipowner with extensive land ownership) was knighted by the Polish King Sigismund in 1525.

Head office in Gdansk on the Long Market with the privilege of being completely exempt from taxes, registered by a mortgage, owned by the Starosteien Rogasen and Rehden bei Thorn. 1528-1554 pledged property of the Starostei Neuchâtel on the Vistula near Dirschau and Prussian Mark near Saalfeld. 1533 owner of Seefeld. 1540 Starost von Putzig. 1552 owned by Nassenhuben and Neuenhuben u. a., 1554 owned by Schönfeld.

With the recognition of the nobility in Poland in 1525, "Wappenverbesserung" with a heart shield containing the Polish coat of arms "Odrowaz": in red a silver throwing iron that is open at the bottom, with a silver tip at the top.
