West Nicholson

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

West Nicholson is a 819 high place on the river Mzingwane with about 1700 inhabitants 40 km east of Gwanda in the province of Matabeleland South in Zimbabwe . The place is on the road and the railway line Bulawayo- West Nicholson, which is used exclusively for goods transport , the end of which is there. It is a regional center of this semi-arid area and has an airfield.

West Nicholson lives from mining and a large meat factory, in which the cattle from the surrounding area are slaughtered and processed into corned beef and biltong (air-dried thin meat slices that are significantly harder than the Grisons meat known in Europe). There is a supermarket and a butcher, a large primary school and a secondary school 12 km away.
