The loggers - West German twine sales donkey Grimm GmbH & Co. KG , based in Oelde , Westphalia , is an international supplier and wholesale packaging materials and tape products. Founded in 1917, the company now employs more than 160 people and has an annual turnover of around 160 million euros. According to its own information, this makes it one of the leading European providers in this industry.

history

On October 1st, 1917 the company WBV - Westdeutscher Bindegarn-Vertrieb Eselgrimm was founded by master wood turner and mill owner Georg Eselgrimm (1859-1923). Due to the First World War , the lack of goods was one of the central characteristics of society . Naturally , this also applied to flax and hemp products , which were only rarely grown because there was a lack of workers in agriculture.

The company's second mainstay was soon to be the distribution of twine . In the 1930s the business was expanded to include other bast fiber products by the subsequent managing director Anton Eselgrimm, son of Georg Eselgrimm . In addition to twine made from sisal, this also included other twine and twine made from hemp and flax. As a result, the company no longer only supplied agriculture, but also the local meat industry.

In the 1950s, the WBV revolutionized the German market by importing hemp products, first from Austria and Italy, and later from Yugoslavia and Hungary . This risky move led to a doubling of sales. In the mid-1960s, other products could be offered, such as B. rubber rings, sisal cords from Cuba , flax imports from Belgium and sealing Mazzoni. Furthermore, synthetic ropes (made of Perlon and polypropylene) and self-adhesive tapes complemented the steadily growing range of WBV.

At the end of the 1970s, the company expanded its product range in the area of films to include disposal bags, carrier bags and garbage bags . A little later, transport packaging followed, such as B. stretch film . In the course of the fall of the Berlin Wall, imports and exports to the Eastern Bloc were greatly simplified, which led to further positive development for the company.

In 1997 the workforce of the WBV (at that time 140 employees) achieved a turnover of 206 million DM, which was possible due to the growing demand across Europe. This form of development was continued and the company celebrated its successful 100th anniversary in 2017.
