Racing rules (sailing)

The racing rules of sailing ( English Racing Rules of Sailing ) regulate behavior during sailing, kite, windsurfing and model boat regattas. They are updated by World Sailing every four years (after the Olympics) . The current edition (2017-2020) came into force on January 1, 2017.

There are 92 rules, which are divided into 7 parts. Part 5 of this is further divided into sections A to D:

  1. Basic rules
  2. Encounter of boats
  3. Conducting a race
  4. Other requirements in a race
  5. Protests, Redress, Hearings, Misconduct, and Appeals (Sections A through D)
  6. Registration and qualification
  7. Organization of races

There are also appendices A to T (without I, O and Q).
