Whalers Beach is a sandy beach in the south of the Australian state of Western Australia . It is part of Frenchman Bay and is located in the town of the same name Frenchman Bay on the Torndirrup Peninsula .
The beach is 730 meters long and up to 25 meters wide. It opens north to King George Sound . A road leads to the east end of the beach where there is a picnic area and parking lot.
Whalers Beach is not guarded by lifeguards . It is classified as safe by SLSA (Surf Life Saving Australia).
In 1913, a Norwegian whaling company set up the Norwegian Bay Whaling Station on the beach , which existed until 1957 and was operated by different companies. Today a picnic station has been set up at the site and only concrete foundations on the beach remind of the former facility.
