history

The construction of the widum dates back to the late 15th century. In a dendrochronological investigation, initiated by the Federal Monuments Office, the wooden cellar ceiling was dated to 1471 and the roof structure to 1479. Together with the building inscription above the portal (1481), it took around ten years to build, which can be traced back to the difficulties encountered in the appointment of pastor Hanns Georg Egker, who should have taken over the position of pastor in the 1460s. However, he had been rejected by the Archbishop of Salzburg and could not take office until 1491.

One of his successors, Christoph von Graben, invested 65 guilders in the Widum in the 16th century, which was used to finance fixtures in the vestibule and the redesign of the facade. Further renovations took place in 1699 and 1874. In 1972 the facade was renovated and the windows exchanged. The Widum is characterized by its uniformly Gothic style and its simple style.
