Degree of reuse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The degree of reuse is a term from automation technology and is usually determined when making decisions about replacement investments .

The degree of reuse expresses the ratio of procurement costs for the components that can be reused from the old system (less overhaul costs ) to the replacement investment for the entire system:

Degree of reuse = (procurement costs of reusable components - overhaul costs) / replacement investment

For large systems such as B. in automobile assembly, maximum reuse levels of about 20% are achieved. This is u. a. also because control components no longer correspond to the state of the art after a few years and have to be replaced.
