The Wiener Geschichtsblätter (abbreviation WGBll ) are a magazine on the city history of Vienna . They are published by the Association for the History of the City of Vienna , which is in close contact with the Vienna City and State Archives , Municipal Department 8 of the City of Vienna.

The Antiquities Association in Vienna , founded in 1853 and the forerunner of today's publisher, published a monthly newspaper from 1884 to 1938 (monthly newspaper of the Antiquities Association in Vienna , later monthly of the Association for the History of the City of Vienna (formerly Antiquities Association of Vienna) ). This was replaced in 1939 by the quarterly newsletter of the Association for the History of the City of Vienna (new edition of the “monthly paper”) , but discontinued in 1943 due to the war.

The Viennese history sheets have been published four times a year since 1946, and special issues have also been published since 1979. They are available to club members free of charge.

The Viennese history sheets bring specialist historical articles, but also smaller notices, reviews, club news, personalities and event information.

The Viennese history sheets were edited by Rudolf Till (1946–1970), Felix Czeike (1970–1993) and Klaralinda Ma-Kircher (1993–2008). Andreas Weigl has been the editor in charge since July 2008 .

In 2019 the 74th year of the magazine appeared.
