Vienna Monday (1912–1918)

The Wiener Montag published from 1912 to 1918 was a Viennese weekly newspaper that initially described itself as an "impartial Monday morning paper". In the Austrian Retrospective Bibliography, the newspaper is classified as "pro-government".

The first edition of the newspaper appeared on October 28, 1912 under the editor Rudolf Glaser, the last under editor S. Brakl on November 4, 1918.

The newspaper's predecessor was “Der Montag”, which was founded in 1912 and only existed for a few months. After 1918 the weekly newspaper was continued as "Der Tag" until 1921. This newspaper, in turn, is not identical to the daily newspaper that was published as “ Der Tag ” from November 1922 to 1930 and had well-known employees and an editorial office in Prague.

Details of the newspaper

The newspaper appeared weekly every Monday. The format was initially 38 by 25 cm with four columns and from August 1916 in the format 40.5 by 27.5 cm with three columns.

The newspaper initially had the addition "impartial Monday morning paper". From March 3, 1913, the addition was “German Morning Gazette”, from November 24th 1913 “Monday Morning Gazette” and from July 13th 1914 finally “Political Monday Gazette”.

In 1912, the newspaper had several editions at short notice, an entertainment supplement (October 28 to December 16, 1912) and then a fashion supplement (November 4 to December 2, 1912).
