Viennese seam
Viennese seam describes a dividing seam that is used in figure-hugging outerwear . It starts about 15 cm below the shoulder seam in the armhole and runs in an arc over the chest (or shoulder blade) to the waist or the hem of the garment. With a Viennese seam, bust darts can be dispensed with. It is often used in women's blouses and traditional dresses such as dirndls . In men's clothing, it is used as a dividing seam in the back of jackets .
