The Wildgatter Heissiwald is a six hectare wildlife park in the Bredeney district in the south of the city of Essen .

The facility, which is located in the eponymous Heissiwald, was created in 1964 with a group of six fallow deer animals . In 1982 there were financial problems that were overcome by a donation from the Stadtsparkasse Essen . In addition, four mouflons were acquired. In 1994 a support association was founded, the honorary chairman of which was the politician Antje Huber .

In the enclosure, which can also be viewed from three viewing platforms, there are four species of wild boar , mouflon (wild sheep), red deer and fallow deer.

The facility is visited by around 40,000 people annually.
